Is Your Strategic Plan Doomed to Fail?
Your strategy looks great on paper. Too bad it'll likely stay there.
Many CEOs spend months crafting beautifully designed strategic plans.
They walk into board meetings with a 50-page roadmap to success.
But reality doesn't care about your fancy SWOT analysis.
Markets shift.
Priorities change.
Execution stalls.
And that “brilliant” strategy?
It ends up buried in a shared drive, forgotten.
A flawlessly executed strategy scribbled on a napkin will always beat a beautifully crafted plan that never sees action.

The Problem? Overplanning, Under Executing.
Your strategy is too rigid. No plan survives first contact with reality. If you’re married to a static document, failure isn’t far behind.
You’re focused on tactics, not principles. The best CEOs set clear priorities instead of drowning in obsessive details.
Your team doesn’t know what actually matters. A strategy that isn’t actionable is just corporate theater.

Build an Execution-Driven Strategy
1. Define your Top ONE/Top Three. Your team doesn’t need ten priorities. They need three. Pick the high-impact, company-defining objectives and make them unmissable.
(After running 9 companies, I wrote down the exact process I used to actually get things done as a CEO. Get it here for free).
2. Operate on Adaptive Planning, Not Annual Planning. Annual strategy documents are dead on arrival. Review and adjust key priorities every 90 days. Great companies move fast. Your strategy should, too.
3. Make Execution Part of the Culture. If your strategy isn’t embedded in daily decisions, it’s useless. Tie every leadership meeting, incentive, and key hire back to your Top ONE/Top Three.
Tone Down The Complexity
Your job isn’t to create a perfect plan.
It’s to create a company that moves fast, adapts, and executes relentlessly.
Is your strategy built for execution, or is it another Fortune 500 strategy collecting dust?
